I don’t know about you, but I love buying musical instruments for other people’s children. Especially if they’ve previously bought them for mine… Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for encouraging children to engage with music – I went (with a child!) to Music for Aardvarks every Friday for six years – but some sounds are best kept out of the home (*remembers gifted plastic trumpet that mysteriously got mislaid*). No one can object to the tinkly tones of a tambourine though, particularly when it looks as fabulous as Kid O’s geometric cherry red and white one. Also available in aqua blue, it’s made from nasties-free plastic and encased in recycled packaging, so its eco credentials are as good as its aesthetic ones. And, at £11.99, from Toyella, it’s a very giftable price too.
