If you have even the slightest penchant for pom poms, then Lala & Pom is a must visit. Based in south-east London, it’s the brainchild of mama-of-two Lucy, who previously worked at Boden, where her love for cool childrenswear was born. Think hair accessories, jewellery, hats, capes and dresses, plus – Kitty’s favourite – glittery cat ears (seriously adorable).
Why we love it: #welovepompoms, of course. But also we truly believe that childrenswear shouldn’t be too formal and stuffy and Lala & Pom definitely puts the focus on fun, with pom pom-trimmed accessories and pops of neon and animal print on clothing. All their products are fabulous quality as well – the pom pom necklace and tassel bracelet are the only pieces of jewellery Kitty’s ever had that she hasn’t managed to break (apart from our BG necklaces, of course!)
Three hot buys: What little girl wouldn’t love to receive a ballerina necklace? This cutie wears a froth of star-spangled tulle, is available in three colours (green, pink and cream) and comes in a sweet Fair-trade pouch, rendering it perfect gift material. £18 and firmly on Kitty’s wishlist. I adore this chambray Lara dress, £30, part of a new collection of frocks and tops. Yet another case of wishing that children’s clothes came in my size, it’s the perfect day-to-evening as it can be dressed up or down, and has a v-back to make it easy to take on and off – check out the leopard-print sleeves! Kitty is really fair-skinned, so I’m always on the look out for sunhats offering decent coverage and this Wide Brim Straw Hat, £22, definitely fits the bill – also apparently ‘hardy enough to survive suitcases, airports and four year old tantrums’, so must be a winner! Love the pom pom and suede tie detail as well.
What next? Look out for gorgeously colourful Colombian cross body pom pom bags (plus adult clutches) coming soon – we’ll keep you posted (once we’ve bagged a couple for ourselves!)
