It isn’t often that we discover a whole new range of toys let alone elegant handmade toys as stunning as these. Created by Steve and Elaine, Hop & Peck create traditional toys with a modern twist.
Dismayed by the lack of traditional wooden toys on the market, Stephen began to make toys for his two year old in the garden shed. A chance playgroup conversation brought Steve and Elaine, former creative director at Mamas & Papas, together. The Essex based duo launched Hop & Peck in November of 2010 with a range of toys designed with imagination and fun in mind.
All of their products are designed with both style and enjoyment in mind. They are handmade from high quality beech plywood and are shaped ergonomically. Their toys embrace the most simple principles of traditional fun for children. They have cars, a click clack ball run (below, top left) and push & pull toys. They also create decor items such as mobiles and clothes pegs as well as wooden egg cups and bird feeders. I adore their modern rocker (above, top left) which at £119.95 is highly competitive in its market.
I am told the collection is set to expand in the future as they have plenty of ideas brewing in the design shed.
