Now, long-time readers will know that we are all big fans of camping and festivals here at BG, and, it’s fair to say, between us we have got through quite a few tents, so it’s hard to be impressed but then one pops up on our radar that is pure genius… *drum roll please* it’s the Coleman Blackout Bedroom Tent.
The worst thing about camping is that dreaded early sunrise or trying to get the very little kids down for a nap while the sun is beating down. The BlackOut Bedroom is a revolutionary new sleep system for campers – it blocks out up to 99% of daylight penetrating the bedroom – helping you get a longer, more restful sleep and, yes there’s more, it helps you to manage the temperature in your bedroom by storing energy from the sun in the surface of the fabric. The tents also have an SPF50 providing protection against the sun’s ultraviolet rays! Winning!
There are eight tents in the range, from the Kobuk – a small tent ideal for kid-free festival goers – to the Cabral 6 family tent, perfect for whole clan. We have just got our mitts on an Oak Canyon, the perfect solution for our family of four. The living area is generously proportioned and bedrooms are well sized. It has a hybrid steel and fibreglass pole construction, so is easy to set up and provides reassuring stability in windy conditions yet keeps weight and pack size to a minimum – it’s not too heavy. I am desperate to try ours out – sadly our Easter camping plans didn’t happen, but we will be heading out in it as soon as the husband gets home from deployment, so watch this space for our Camping with Coleman feature because we also have one of their brilliant Event Shelters (which Lu has had and raved about for years!). Exciting!

That looks great. Soon as they invent one with a pop-up cotbed, we’ll be there!

Oh you so need to pitch (see what I did there!) that idea to them!

only trouble is other family’ noise in the morning will still wake your kids.
