Liberty has been my favourite department store for years, winning me over as a hardcore fan with its non-department store feel, independent designers mixed with the world renowned, its stunning mix of eclectic and traditional, and a damn good cuppa and pea risotto.
March 1st sees Liberty officially launch its inaugural childrenswear department, with clothes by existing Liberty brands such as Stella McCartney, Chloe, Isabel Marant and Paul Smith along with new arrivals including Folk, Oliver Spencer, Rita & Co (very excited about their dresses in popping prints), Gold, Maan, Miller by Elias + Grace, and Caramel. There’s also accessories, toys, gifts and books by BG favourites like Djeco, Kids on Roof, Vilac, Anne-Claire Petit, and Kiko.
The opening also sees the launch of an exclusive collection of ten Liberty print Bugaboo’s, as well as a Liberty print jacket by Barbour, and a Dr Marten’s boot, and no doubt there will be more hot collab’s with their ubiquitous micro-florals and geometrics.
I can’t wait to see the 2000 sq ft. department which has a storybook style mural with a hand-drawn illustration of a giant tree filled with animals in human guises, fauna and flora sprawled across its walls and furniture – we’ll make sure to update with photos!
