We’re huge fans of the Trunki at BG. If you’re not familiar, they’re a 3 in 1 suitcase that can be packed, ridden and pulled along. Lots of fun for kids. They’re available in a range of colours and styles – Boris the Bus is my current favourite – with limited editions and collaborations popping up every so often. Lola loves her Gruffalo one but when I asked her if she wanted to design a new one and let Finn have her old one, she jumped at the chance. To be fair, who wouldn’t want to create their own?
The process is really simple. Lola didn’t struggle at all. You literally click the element you want to colour – hubcaps, nose, straps etc – and then select a colour from the options. The interface is really intuitive.
Once she had finished hers she carried on designing Trunkis. There are endless possibilities….
Be warned, giving your 5 year old free reign can be a killer. They have no idea about accent colours…Â none at all. She was even resistant to matching straps and handles. I had to let it go. So what did Lola go for?
Yep. A Disney Frozen inspired one – she is still obsessed despite a short detour over to superheros. It breaks me, but at least it’s coordinated! Your customised Trunki costs £39.99 (the standard ones start at £34.99) but Trunkis are built to last. Our Gruffalo has been on many flights, long haul, short haul and have been generally battered along the way. The Gruffalo and this one are used as steps to light switches, for Trunki races, to sit at the coffee table on….. and they handle the roughness of a five year old and 20 month old well.
So in summary, if you’re looking for luggage for little people which is fun and functional (you can take these on as hand luggage), customising your own Trunki is the way to go.
