An iPhone may not be one of my top ten new Mama essentials but it certainly helps. Not only can you keep in touch with your buddies or surf during the night feeds but now you can keep track of your baby’s feeds. The designers Milo Creative set about creating an app to ease the burden of new parents and came up with Milk Monitor.
Milk Monitor allows you to record which side the baby fed from and times the length of the feed – so much easier than fiddling with a pen and paper! If you’re bottle feeding you can record how much the baby drank. You can even record the contents of their nappies (don’t scoff, you know it’s all we talk about!) and other significant information. You can then use this data to track patterns in feeding and you can even email or tweet it. The app also has a function to add more than one baby, perfect for parents of multiples.
Personally, I’m not one for recording data but for one reason or another I’ve had to do so for both of my children and found it unbelievably tedious. Even seconds after feeding a newborn I couldn’t tell you how long they had fed for and so I would have loved this app as it does all of the work for you. If I ever have a third child I’ll be downloading it in plenty of time for their arrival and at only £1.79 it’s a bargain.
