Not so long ago, I decided to fire up the sewing machine and start making things – I love sewing but, alas, I have a serious lack of skills, so I signed up for a Clothkits workshop. Clothkits is known for their range of  beautiful quality, well-designed clothes for you to make without the fuss of paper patterns and their workshops are equally fab.
The first course I opted for was the Make Your Mother Proud – Learn to Sew! – a five-hour session where you learn all the basics. I walked away with techniques like finishing seams, gathering, smocking, buttonholes, zips and much much more – we made sample bags, cushions and aprons. I came back inspired!
I noticed the other week my fabric stash was growing rather rapidly, so signed up to another workshop to get the creative juices flowing. This one was a three-hour workshop costing just over £20 and I came away with a cute pair of PJs for Lola, and a pair ready-cut and ready to sew for the husband. And guess what I’m making everyone for Christmas…
If you’re in the Chichester area, pop along to Clothkits, as even if the courses aren’t for you, it’s still so worth dropping in to swoon over the fabrics and other loveliness  – we’re talking Rob Ryan, Amy Butler, MiniModerns and you could spend a fortune in the haberdashery section!
