While I may not be a huge fan of endless character products one or two choice products from book illustrations prove irresistible. When I spotted Chris Haughton had created a rug featuring his A Bit Lost Owl illustration I was weak at the knees.
If you’re not familiar with the book I recommend grabbing a copy; it has been a favourite in this house ever since Monty got lost because the Mama is always looking for her baby. The design throughout the book is strong and this rug features the cover illustration. I love the wonkiness of the owl’s feathers and the big eyes. Even if you weren’t familiar with A Bit Lost this rug would still appeal.
The rugs are made from wool which is hand spun, dyed and hand knotted. They are made by a fair trade group in Kathmandu. The group supports a school and orphanage as well as teaching its workers literacy and employable skills. The rug measures 60 x 93 cm.
