So, I was going to make this generally transport-themed, but there was way too much good stuff, so I’ve split it up. Here’s the first, cars, vans and trucks. Hot off the Petit Collage press is this little piece of fabulousness - By Land, a road-based print on maple veneer, from just $15 for the small size.
Corinne Welch’s On The Move retro print is more of an investment piece at £100, but I’m loving the muted tones of the woodcuts, which were inspired by 1950s children’s book illustrations. Grab a limited-edition artwork fromBoxbird Gallery.
For the walls, it has to be Marimekko Boo Bo wallpaper designed by Katsuji Wakisaka, £59, Funktionalley. Bright, but not in-your-face, and cheerful, and also washable.
Alternatively, opt for white walls and affix Blik’s amazingly cool Racetrack wall decal complete with colourful race cars. Would also be pretty cool on a painted wooden floor (don’t panic – they are fully removable!) £39, Supernice at Not on the High Street.
I do like Euro boutique Little Zebra for unusual finds and this 100% cotton duvet cover and pillowcase set, €62,70, by Dutch company Taftan is certainly that – the dark colour combo and appliqued picture make a welcome change from mass-produced character designs. Great for kids big and small.
And wouldn’t a 100% cotton cushion with a retro car print in blue coordinate perfectly with the bed linen? Oh yes. Snap yours up from HunkyDory Home for £20 (with a fibre-filled cushion) or £24 (with feathers).
I couldn’t not include Orla Kiely’s iconic Car Park print and this lampshade by Shady Lady showcases the graphic design perfectly. Love the use of olive green in children’s rooms – especially teamed with zingy orange. £35, Misi.
Sadly, DwellStudio’s Transportation print has all but disappeared over here, but I love this painted wooden frame’s nod to the design. Let’s face it, which little one wouldn’t want a photo of themselves peeking out of the bus window. £26, The Little Baby Company.
Nip over to the Habitat website now for a bargain for your floor. The Speed racetrack wool rug is half price in the sale at £62.50. (Note: doesn’t come with the wooden accessories, but is still really cool). Perfect for budding Lewis Hamiltons.
For a finishing touch, add one or all of Sparkle & Spin’s campervans, £7, to a shelf. As as VW owner, I’ll be making sure one of these finds its way into Alfie’s Christmas stocking – love the detail. And you can guarantee it won’t stay on a shelf for long. Brrmmm! Brrmmm!
