We’ve been to London and New York, so it seems only fitting that we should pay a visit to that chicest of fashion capitals across the Channel. A Paris-themed room could be great for boys (Eiffel Tower, gargoyles) or girls (Eiffel Tower, poodles). I tried really hard to find Pompidou Center goodies, but they’re sadly lacking – designers take note: a construction toy based on it would be amazing. Anyway, for your chambre francaise, start with the walls. I love Bristol-based Taylors Type’s graphic city prints and the Parisian version in its fuchsia and black glory is particularly enticing. About £35, Etsy.
If you’re not a lover of pink, then Famille Summerbelle‘s Paris map, £35, may be more to your taste. Based on a papercut, available in red and blue, featuring all the capital’s landmarks and arrondissements, it’s a thing of beauty.
Bodie and Fou is a truly magnifique boutique and this Cahier d’Ecriture (writing book) wallpaper, by the impeccably named Madame Chalet, is too. £95, Bodie & Fou.
Every good room needs a height chart and what better to measure yourself against than Gustave’s iron tower – loving this wall decal from Emiliana Design Studio. €61, Domestic.
William Dohman‘s recycled wooden sign would look just as at home in a hallway or lounge (I’m liking the exposed brick backdrop) as a children’s room – so lovely. And, of course, educational! Choose from 14 colours or natural wood finish. P&p to the UK is an eye-watering £32 – the sign itself is £48, so I figure just say it’s £80 including shipping and have done with it.
In contrast, Michelle Mason‘s super-cheerful Paris cushion bedecked with pom-poms, £50, has free delivery and will brighten up any boudoir.Â
This petit chair is by no means a bargain, but it is adorable and what child doesn’t love a piece of mini furniture? The butterflies are bound to delight as well. £125, Mama Lally at Not on the High Street. Check out the sassy NYC version while you’re visiting.
Graham & Green‘s Eiffel Tower lamp, £95, isn’t really designed for kids, but would look great on a high shelf and, with its black shade, is surprisingly tasteful.
You know I’m a flashcard addict? Well, these Gallic beauties really satisfy my cravings – beautiful illustrations and the opportunity for learning. £25, Melijoe.
If you’re in any way craft-inclined you’ll be aware of the awesome Made By Joel. His paper cities are so cool – just print, cut out and create a micro world with your little one. Completely for free! I defy them (and you) not to love it.
