Being pregnant gave me the opportunity to check out lots of pregnancy books but there is only one that I love and have now gifted to several pregnant friends who love it too!
A friend from NYC sent What to Expect When You’re Expecting by Arlene Eisenberg, Heidi E. Murkof, Sandee E. Hathaway and at first glance I was a little skeptical as it wasn’t all singing and dancing full of photos of every stage of the pregnancy but it didn’t take long before I was hooked. It answers every question you can possibly think of. I’d had a big hardback book full of photos (must root it out) and it wasn’t answering my crucial questions such as: Why was I having terrible headaches for a couple of months? What the hell was I going to do with my hair re chemicals and relaxing?
There are no photos; just basic drawings of each stage but each month chapter brings up all of the questions you’re likely to be asking at that time. You end up reading about stuff even if it’s not happening to you out of sheer curiosity! A word of caution: If you’re not into details, this isn’t the book for you! I like to know everything!
It’s a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin book and even though it’s a bit Americanised, it comes highly recommended from me and all of my pregnant friends read this now! One friend read it from cover to cover in one week!
What to Expect When You’re Expecting by Arlene Eisenberg, Heidi E. Murkof, Sandee E. Hathaway RRP is £14.99 and is currently £7.49 on Amazon.
