We all love the magic of finding a filled stocking on Christmas morning and diving in to discover the treasures within. We have been busy hunting out our favourite treats for under £5 as well as highlighting our favourite stocking filler sections where everything was so good we simply could not choose.
1. A life size doughnut which doubles up as a rattle. £4 from Green Apple.
2. Loving lobster in the tub and his friend croc in the tub who wind up and swim around the bath. £4.50 each from Lula Sapphire.
3. One of our favourite items for budding artists. Big Pencils for Small Hands are just £3.95 for a tube of 12 from Ikon.
4. Jennie Maizels Clothes Plasters are now available as single or pair packs so you can slip one into a stocking with the promise of livening up some tired or worn clothes. £2.99.
5. If you don’t think your child fancies sending off their gift to someone else, why not use this postcard aeroplane to write a note from Santa? £3.75 from Pedlars.
6. I know that even without having seen Bambi, my daughter would adore this Bambi figurine. £4 from Sparkle & Spin.
7. A great way to display art, these mini ladybird pegs are £1.99 for a pack of 24 from Tickseed.
8. Perfect for developing early writing and art skills. This mini slate board and pencil is an old fashioned item which has never grown old. £4.50 from Bramley.
9. These reusable Japanese paper balloons provide instant decoration and entertainment. Tough enough to withstand pre-schoolers blowing them up and batting them around the room. Starting at £2.25 each from Petra Boase.
10. Endless fun to be had with this mini insects and bugs stamping kit which also comes in a pirate skulls version. £3.25 each from Juicy Tots.
11. I could include 101 ideas for books but given the choice of just one I think What Am I? will be a winner. Starting with the eyes of an owl the two holes in the book turn into different animals as they get smaller. £4.99 form Amazon.
Five hot stocking filler sections:
We love Woolgar’s Toys Pocket Money Section. Not only does it have a whole host of colourful wooden goodies it is great for party bags as you get discounts for multiple purchases prices are from 85p.
Jelly and Blancmange have a stocking filler section packed full of toys and craft kits with prices ranging from 30p to £5.
Little Baby Company has an awesome array of goodies to choose from which leave us spoiled for choice. Their under £5 section has plenty of ideas but be sure to check out the main categories as there are gems such as the wind up tin train or insect and dinosaur kaleidoscopes which are perfect for stockings. It may be over our price range but while you’re there have a peek at the £5 – £10 section for more inspiration.
Cox & Cox have a good under £10 selection with the Magic Tree being a big favourite of mine.
I have raided this section on many an occasion and it never fails to disappoint. Natural and gentle toys and games from Myriad.
