I imagined I would sit and sew name tapes into each item of school clothing at the beginning of each term. The first year of pre-school I did just that, all the uniform (two jumpers, one t-shirt) and ballet kit (one leotard) was diligently named. Fast forward to school and with more than four items to keep track off sewing name tapes had lost its appeal somewhat. With three children the sheer volume of things to label over the next sixteen or so years doesn’t bare thinking about!
I recently heard about Stamptastic who create a stamp of your child’s name and send it to you along with a block of ink and you are sorted. Ten minutes of stamping later and every item of clothing that will ever go to school, pre-school, swimming and ballet has been labelled. The stamp is transparent which makes positioning easy. The ink is versatile and can print on just about every surface you can think of and withstand the rigours of wash and wear.
We have a pretty distinctive surname (hurrah) so I have one stamp without first names to save me time on the hand-me-downs. But as you get a discount on additional stamps in your order you won’t be penalised for having a large family.
Stamps start at £16.99 for one and go up to £39.50 for four with one ink pad included in each order.
