The sun has got his hat on, hip hip hip hooray! Time to break out the shades. I’ve always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with children’s sunglasses – my two have never been brilliant at keeping them on and neither could stand those elasticated straps. So, thank goodness for Paxley. The US-designed, Italian-made sunglasses are created specifically for children from nasties-free (no BPA, PVC, phthalates, lead, latex, paint or glue) materials and have an ergonomic, flexible shape and feature pinch-free hinges for maximum comfort. The shatter-proof lenses are UV-400, which means they block out all harmful UVA and UVB rays, so little eyes have ultimate protection. On top of all that tech stuff, they are incredibly stylish – they come in four retro styles and fourteen eye-popping colourways in three different sizes (0-18 months, 1-3 years and 3-5 years) and cost $40 a pair.
My two were lucky enough to be sent a pair each – Larchmont in Honey for Kitty and Pico in Light Grey for Alfie – and they have been loving wearing them during the recent sunny spell (see photos for proof). Â There have been no complaints and I haven’t ended up shoving them into my bag after five minutes, which is what happened with all previous pairs we’ve owned. They come packaged in drawstring bags inside chic cardboard boxes with a strap and shipping to the UK will set you back $15.
