I had wondered how having books on an iPad could enhance the experience. Then I saw this trailer for the iPad version of Oliver Jeffers’ The Heart and The Bottle and am utterly convinced by the concept. Somewhere between book, game, animation and audio book this release looks magical.
The book is voiced by Helena Bonham-Carter who also narrated the hugely popular Gruffalo animation. Each page has the original illustrations which have been brought alive to move and interact with the reader. The Heart and The Bottle itself is a gentle story of loss and learning to open your heart again. The simplicity with which the book is written is breath taking and, along with his other books, is a firm favourite in this house.
Is it just me who is thinking of Penny’s interactive book from Inspector Gadget?
Available from 1st December 2010.
